The book titled, Going into Business in West Virginia, can be downloaded or a hard copy ordered, plus a sample business plan.  The Small Business Administration and the Small Business Development Center work together to provide assistance in writing a business plan, market research, information on lenders, etc.

The RCDA is an organization devoted to advancing sustainable growth and prosperity in Randolph County through economic development initiatives.  The RCDA's strategic focus is centered on three themes:  Business Development, Community Development, and Training &Education.  The RCDA oversees two business parks in Randolph County, one in Elkins that is 100% occupied by 17 businessess, and one in Huttonsville that is under development.  The RCDA also owns a 23-acre former Brownfield site in downtown Elkins (the Elkins Rail Yard) that is being redevelopment into a mixed-use commercial site.  Five new businesses and over 8 million dollars of new investment have been attracted to that site to date.  In addition to real estate projects, the RCDA owns and operates the West Virginia Wood Technology Center, a training facility and wood shop that specializes in developing skills needed in the wood products industry.
