The winner this year is a business that has made huge leaps and bounds. To understand their success you must first understand where they have come from. Beginning with a successful, but humble 21 employees in 1999 under what would become their owner and then partner, this business has seen little but growth in the past fifteen years.
In 2009, Fordland purchased and relocated to their current 6.5-acre Beverly Pike location. In 2013, Owner Jim Jackson formed Elkins Auto and expanded their offerings to include Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram in addition to Ford. In 2015, Elkins Auto broke into the top ten largest volume automobile destinations in West Virginia by selling over 1800 vehicles.
Building the business on the foundational principles of respect, fairness and giving back to the community, Jim and the Elkins Auto dealership have sponsored 11 “Drive for Fitness” events, raising over $250,000 for the Elkins YMCA, ten “Drive One” events, raising tens of thousands of dollars for local schools and organizations and sponsored and organized local YMCA concert fundraisers featuring Philip Phillips and Scotty McCreary.
Elkins Auto is a top level contributor for the Davis House, as well as a major contributor to the Randolph County Community Arts Center, the Forest Festival, the C.A.C., the United Way, the Kump House, Mountain Hospice, Snowshoe Foundation’s Treasure on the Mountain event and the new pool construction at the YMCA, just to name a few. They are also a top level contributor to the Brothers Osbourne concert fundraiser taking place next month at Harper McNeely.
Prioritizing youth health and fitness in the community, Elkins Auto sponsors numerous youth baseball, soccer and basketball teams. Jackson personally gives his time by coaching basketball, including school teams, six years running of YMCA teams, and this past year he started and coached the Elkins Energy travel basketball team.
Under Jackson’s leadership, Elkins Auto has grown to employ 52 people in two beautiful facilities, including a 14-member sales and management team with an average of 18 years’ industry experience. Today Elkins Auto offers over 500 vehicles on the lot at any time, selling an average of 150 vehicles to customers from 11 states and servicing over 1400 customers’ vehicles each month. Congratulations to our Business of the Year. . . Elkins Auto.
