The Elkins Randolph County Chamber of Commerce met for its quarterly meeting in Elkins Wednesday morning.

North Central West Virginia Airport Director Rick Rock spoke at the meeting to highlight the benefits to the Elkins area provided by the expansion of the airport.

Event organizers said having a growing airport close by can open up a lot of opportunities for Randolph County businesses.

“We’re really excited just dreaming about an airport within 45 minutes. You know, it’s one hour drive specifically from where I’m standing right now to the airport, and you could catch that connection and be in Charlotte or Austin or who knows where?” said chamber director Chelsey Jones.

The chamber also took time to recognize the newest businesses to join as members since its last meeting.
